Pneumothorax in Coronavirus Disease-19 Patients: A Retrospective Case Series

Objective: Pneumothorax may develop secondary to alveolar damage and barotrauma in Covid- 19 patients. In this study, the light of literature. we aimed present Covid-19 patients who developed pneumothorax among whom followed up intensive care unit. Methods: Eleven 2680 tested positive for PCR test radiologic examination were included study. The data obtsined from patient follow-up forms electronic medical records. Demographic data, blood biochemical parameters, culture results, time location development pneumothorax, modality, duration treatment, mortality recorded. Results: frequency was found be 0.41%. most common complaint dyspnea. Comorbidiites observed 9 (81.8%) comorbidity hypertension. It determined that 3 (27.2%) did not smoke, 4 patients(36.3%) active smokers, (36.3%) ex-smokers. mean age 69±14.8 years, APACHE II score 18.8±8.7, female/male ratio 3/8, 10.7±11.8 days. (27.27%) on noninvasive mechanical ventilation 8 (72.7%) invasive ventilation. length stay unit 21.6±26.5 10 (90.9%) died 19.5±27.0 Conclusion: infection, lung protective strategies should adopted it known is a late complication increases morbidity. (English) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] Amac: hastalarinda hasar ve barotravmaya sekonder pnomotoraks gelisebilir. Bu calismada, yogun bakim unitesinde takip ettigimiz hastalarindan gelisenlerini literatur esliginde sunmayi amacladik. Yontem: Calismaya testi pozitif oldugu saptanan 2.680 hastadan radyolojik olarak gelistigi belirlenen 11 hasta dahil edildi. Veriler formlari elektronik tibbi kayitlardan alindi. Demografik veriler, tam kan biyokimyasalparametreleri, kultur sonuclari, gelisim zamani lokasyonu, tedavi sekli, mortalite suresi kaydedildi. Bulgular: Pnomotoraks gelisme sikligi %0,41 bulundu. En sik basvuru yakinmasinin dispne saptandi. Dokuz (%81.8)hastada comorbidite en gozlenen comorbiditenin hipertansiyon goruldu. Uc (%27,2) hastanin sigara kullanmadigi, 4(%36,3) aktif icicisi (%36.3) sigarayi biraktigi Hastalarin yas ortalamalari 69±14,8 yil, skor 18,8±8,7, kadin/erkek orani 3/8 gelisene 10,7±11,8 gun hastada (%27.27) noninvaziv mekanik ventilasyonda (%72,7) invaziv ventilasyondayken Yogun ortalama kalma 21,6±26,5 gundu. On (%90,9) eks olana kadar 19,5±27,0 gectigi Sonuc: infeksiyonu sirasinda hipoksemi edilirken, akciger koruyucu ventilasyon stratejileri benimsenmeli gelisiminin morbiditeyi arttiran gec donem komplikasyon bilinmelidir.
